A Russian jet-propelled drone has struck a train near the Ukraine-Poland border shortly after former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and top European security officials travelled through the area.
Ukrainian authorities reported that the strike hit the engine of the train at Yahodyn. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded because all passengers had been evacuated just 15 minutes prior to the impact, following schedule changes prompted by constant Russian threats.
This targeted disruption of Ukraine's railway infrastructure highlights the persistent dangers facing transportation networks and international figures alike. With all civilian airspace grounded since the full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine's vast rail system remains the primary lifeline for millions of citizens.
Alongside Boris Johnson, other high-profile figures such as UK national security adviser Jonathan Powell and former CIA chief David Petraeus were reported to be traveling on related trains through the Yahodyn station area during the time of the incident.

Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, who also attended the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv, told the BBC that passengers on his train were initially ordered to prepare for evacuation before receiving the all-clear to proceed to Poland's border station in Dorohusk.

Writing on X, Boris Johnson condemned the attack as a senseless act mirroring the daily dangers faced by Ukrainians. Meanwhile, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened an emergency meeting, warning that Russian military escalation is pushing dangerously close to the nation's border.
