Tawee Joins Mawlid Event for Riders from Deep South

Pol. Col. Tawee Sodsong, party-list MP and leader of the Prachachat Party, along with party executives, attended the first Mawlid relationship event for the Islamic year 1448 held at Manafilul Islam Mosque (Klong Kaja) in Bangkok's Bang Kapi district. Hundreds of delivery riders originally from Thailand's three southern border provinces, who currently live and work in the Ramkhamhaeng area, gathered in large numbers for the community event.
The gathering was organized to honor Prophet Muhammad, a revered figure globally. Despite living far away from their hometowns in the capital, these delivery workers maintained their religious and cultural traditions through this communal meet-up, fostering a warm and supportive environment among peers facing similar migrant working conditions in Bangkok.

During the event, Pol. Col. Tawee delivered a speech addressing the attendees, emphasizing that Prophet Muhammad serves as a universal role model for establishing peace among humanity. He noted that his party has continuously engaged with delivery workers by holding listening sessions at multiple locations in the Ramkhamhaeng area, specifically mentioning Soi Ramkhamhaeng 53 and Soi Ramkhamhaeng 81.
"Prophet Muhammad is an essential prophet with followers worldwide, serving as a role model for creating peace for all humanity. Today, I want to offer encouragement and listen to your problems, having already organized sessions to hear the voices of riders multiple times."

Aside from the warm exchange of ideas and community bonding, a major takeaway from the event was labor advocacy. The Prachachat Party announced its policy commitment to push forward a formal legislative draft aimed at protecting the rights and welfare of delivery riders, while also targeting peacebuilding efforts in the Deep South within the next one to two years.
Politicians engaging directly with informal labor groups like delivery riders highlights a strategic shift toward addressing the socioeconomic vulnerabilities faced by migrant workers in urban centers. Turning these grassroots listening sessions into binding legislative protection remains a critical test for political parties aiming to reform labor standards in Thailand.
