Amazon has officially announced that its conversational assistant Alexa+ is now available in India with dedicated Hindi support. The newly upgraded assistant is designed to hold longer conversations while seamlessly maintaining context throughout the interaction.
The new feature is currently accessible to all customers across the country through an Early Access program in both Hindi and English. Following the initial testing phase, the company plans to offer the assistant completely free of charge for its Prime subscribers, while non-Prime customers will be charged ₹2,000 per month, equivalent to approximately $20.85.
According to the company, the upgraded Alexa features a more expressive voice and possesses the capability to execute complex multi-step tasks. These tasks include ordering groceries through Amazon's quick commerce service, Amazon Now, as well as toggling smart home devices on and off. Users are also able to switch fluently between English and Hindi right in the middle of a sentence.

Furthermore, Amazon noted that Alexa+ comes deeply integrated with various India-based services. This includes food delivery platform Swiggy, Zomato's ticketing platform District, travel booking websites TripAdvisor and MakeMyTrip, and restaurant reservation app EazyDiner. The enhanced assistant is likewise connected to music streaming platforms such as Amazon Music and JioSaavn.
Amazon's rollout of Alexa+ in India highlights a strategic push into one of the world's most populous markets by targeting the country's vast linguistic diversity. With over 600 million Hindi speakers, integrating localized services like Swiggy, Zomato, and MakeMyTrip directly into a conversational AI interface allows Amazon to build a deeply embedded regional ecosystem, strengthening its competitive edge against rival voice assistants in South Asia.
Previously in June, TechCrunch reported that Amazon invited users to enroll in a testing program enabling conversations with Alexa+ in Hindi, followed by trials for the English version. Amazon originally launched Alexa in India in English back in 2017 and introduced Hindi support in 2019. While withholding absolute sales figures, the company confirmed that its smart home device shipments in India have grown by 20% compared to the previous year.
