The ministerial visit followed the 4th BIMSTEC Working Group on Tourism in Thailand held from September 14–15, 2026. Both nations explored enhanced tourism cooperation in cultural, Buddhist travel, and regional connectivity to develop new cross-border travel products.
TAT's focus on showcasing historic communities like Songwat to international dignitaries illustrates a strategic pivot toward high-value, meaningful travel. By leveraging shared cultural heritage and regional frameworks like BIMSTEC, Thailand aims to foster deeper bilateral tourism exchanges that benefit local economies while preserving historical identity.
