Anthropic is merging its front-end interfaces for Claude chat and Cowork, a move designed to eliminate confusion over which tab users should select for different tasks. The updated unified interface brings chat, Cowork, and Artifacts—Claude's interactive workspace feature—together within a single window, while Claude Design remains accessible anywhere across the platform.
Prior to this update, the company noted that customers frequently struggled to pick the appropriate tab for specific tasks. Under the new design, Claude automatically routes requests behind the scenes, removing the need for manual tab or window switching. The core objective is to streamline the user experience into a single front end that directs work to various parts of the application, alongside the widespread availability of Claude Design introduced back in April.

In tandem with the interface changes, Anthropic is introducing dedicated capabilities for building presentations and documents. Users can instruct the AI assistant to create, edit, and present slide decks, as well as download the generated outputs directly as PDF or PowerPoint files. Meanwhile, the Docs feature allows users to collaborate side-by-side with Claude to draft sections, ask questions, and leave comments on completed segments.

Furthermore, users can share generated documents or slides via link for mobile editing, or initiate a document creation task on their desktop and monitor its progress through the mobile app. These capabilities are rolling out initially to Claude's Pro and Max subscribers over the coming weeks across web, desktop, and mobile platforms, with plans to expand access to free and team tiers later. The update follows a recent upgrade to Cowork's memory layer, which helps Claude retain user context across multiple conversations.
Anthropic's decision to consolidate its interface highlights a broader industry trend toward reducing UX friction in enterprise and consumer AI tools. As users increasingly rely on AI for complex workflows spanning writing, design, and data processing, jumping between disparate tabs creates unnecessary cognitive load.
