- Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 does not yet support the Thai language
Official support documentation released by Apple details the storage requirements for running artificial intelligence features on its flagship smartphone lineup. The documents specify that high-end mobile devices need a substantial amount of internal storage to operate advanced system capabilities smoothly, drawing attention from users planning their device storage management.
According to the details, devices requiring up to 14GB of storage space include the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. Meanwhile, newly launched models such as the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Duo share the exact same storage demand of 14GB. In contrast, other supported iPhone models continue to require a maximum of 8GB of storage space.

The primary reason behind the nearly doubled storage requirement for these premium devices stems from their advanced on-device AI capabilities. These include features such as customizing Siri AI voice output to express emotions and control speech pacing, alongside significantly improved voice dictation accuracy. Both features rely on sophisticated AI models that process data directly on the hardware.
Apple's allocation of up to 14GB for on-device AI models highlights the broader industry shift from cloud-based artificial intelligence toward edge AI processing directly on user hardware. This transition prioritizes response speed and user privacy, though it means consumers with limited device storage may need to opt for higher capacity configurations in the future.
Apple Intelligence was initially introduced in public in 2024 but failed to gain widespread traction initially, prompting Apple to overhaul the system ahead of its official rollout on the iOS 27 operating system, particularly centered around the revamped Siri voice assistant powered by Apple Intelligence technology.
Nevertheless, a significant limitation remains for users in certain regions as Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 does not currently support the Thai language. Supported languages at present include English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and several others. Users must set both their device display language and Siri language to a matching supported option to utilize the features.
