The new tool is engineered to access and interact with everyday files, documents, emails, messages, calendars, and notes, helping users streamline complex tasks that require data spanning multiple applications simultaneously.

Muse is not entirely new to the ecosystem; it originally launched on September 8th across iOS, Android, the web, and WhatsApp. According to TechCrunch, the application quickly surged to the top of the U.S. App Store charts following that initial release. Today's desktop rollout extends that capability to Mac computers, allowing users to execute requests such as organizing folders, completing forms using local data, or generating end-of-day summaries from various communications.

The core practical shift lies in advanced context gathering. Traditional chatbots typically require users to manually copy and paste information into a prompt. Access to the computer system is strictly opt-in, while optional Full Disk Access can be modified or revoked through settings at any time. Meta plans to introduce Muse Confidential VM later in 2026 to encrypt the entire environment with a user-held key, alongside an active public bug bounty program.
