Former manager Paul Lambert has voiced strong support for Celtic boss Martin O'Neill, stating that he would be shocked and disappointed if the club decided to dismiss the 74-year-old following a difficult string of results, which includes back-to-back defeats by arch-rivals Rangers.
Those setbacks in the Old Firm fixtures came either side of a home defeat to Ferencvaros in the Europa League. The club also suffered a major collapse in the Champions League back in August, surrendering a 4-0 aggregate lead against LASK.

Lambert noted that the experienced manager intended to use the international break to take stock of the situation and reassess the squad's direction after the recent disappointments on the pitch.
"I'd be shocked and disappointed if Celtic sacked him. If he wants to go, then he goes himself."

Reflecting on O'Neill's previous contributions, Lambert recalled how the veteran boss steadied the ship twice last term following the departures of Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy, emphasizing that the club was hanging on by a thread before he turned things around.
