Manchester G20 Summit 2027: World leaders head to UK

The city of Manchester in the UK is gearing up to welcome world leaders, including Donald Trump, who will travel to the city next year for the G20 leaders' summit. The high-profile gathering is officially scheduled for November 27 and 28, 2027, at the Manchester Central Convention Centre, marking the largest summit ever hosted in the city.

Prime Minister Andy Burnham, the former mayor of Greater Manchester, expressed that he was extremely pleased to welcome the US president to the area. Manchester was selected as the host city earlier this year before Burnham assumed office as prime minister. Downing Street has confirmed that preparations are now accelerating, with hundreds of local residents expected to be involved in the logistical efforts.

Back in June, as it appeared likely that Burnham would secure the premiership, Trump dismissively referred to him as "the mayor of a town". However, ahead of his trip to New York to meet Trump for the first time on Tuesday, Burnham emphasized that politicians often make remarks throughout their careers, but the priority now is focusing squarely on the present moment.

The G20 summit serves as an annual gathering uniting 19 of the world's largest economies, alongside representatives from both the European Union and the African Union. Together, these members account for approximately two-thirds of the global population and over 85% of total world wealth. The annual forum was originally established in 1999 with the core objective of promoting international financial stability and cooperation.
