The establishment of the Gaetano Pesce Foundation aims to carry forward the multidisciplinary work and design philosophy of Italian architect and designer Gaetano Pesce, who lived from 1939 to 2024. Announced alongside the Gaetano Pesce Studio: Continued exhibition at Salon 94, the nonprofit organization is dedicated to protecting his extensive archive of objects, drawings, prototypes, and documentation while actively supporting exhibitions, publications, and authorized editions.
Throughout his career, Pesce's work continually bridged the gaps between art, design, architecture, performance, and social commentary. The foundation embraces this refusal of strict categories as a core part of its mission, treating past projects as ongoing vehicles for experimentation. This initiative was formally established in accordance with the vision that Pesce outlined before his passing.
Establishing a dedicated foundation for multidisciplinary artists and architects ensures their avant-garde methodologies and physical archives are properly maintained for scholarly research, preventing historical erasure and educating future generations of designers.
The foundation's board oversees research initiatives, educational programs, institutional partnerships, and the continued production of authorized editions. The leadership team includes:
