The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is officially rolling out VIJIT Thailand 2026, scheduled to take place across three distinct regions: Lamphun, Trang, and Roi Et, running from September 25 to October 18, 2026. This year's festival is designed to elevate experiential tourism by deploying creative technology, projection illumination, 3D mapping, drone shows, and cultural performances to reinterpret local heritage, nature, and cultural narratives in contemporary ways.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, stated that the event reflects TAT’s strategic direction under 'The Year of Transformation,' placing strong emphasis on meaningful travel experiences, quality tourism, and a wider distribution of economic benefits to local communities. Each host destination offers distinct cultural narratives and unique ways to experience Thailand after dark.

Developed as a sustainable event prototype, VIJIT Thailand 2026 features 10 curated illumination installations or experience points in each destination, following the successful format of previous editions such as Vijit Chao Phraya in Bangkok. The regional schedule and concepts are structured as follows:
- VIJIT @LAMPHUN: Runs from September 25 to October 4, 2026, between 17:00 and 24:00 hrs across Lamphun Old Town under the concept "The Eternal Kingdom of Hariphunchai," connecting Buddhist heritage and architecture through contemporary light art.
- VIJIT @TRANG: Runs from October 2 to 11, 2026, from 17:00 to 22:00 hrs at Chaloem Phrakiat 95 Public Park in Mueang Trang, featuring 10 illuminated experiences themed around "Trang Lights Alive" incorporating local symbols and multicultural identity.
- VIJIT Roi Et Illumination: Completes the series from October 9 to 18, 2026, from 17:00 to 24:00 hrs at Bueng Phlan Chai, exploring Isan faith and culture through lasers, mist, LED displays, and a grand opening-night fireworks display.
By decentralizing major light festivals into secondary provinces across three regions, the TAT is effectively encouraging regional travel and lengthening visitor stays into the evening hours. This strategy aligns with modern travel trends where visitors increasingly seek authentic local immersion rather than sticking solely to primary tourist hubs.
