SpeakON has introduced a new hardware device categorized as an AI Communicator, drawing conceptual inspiration from the Communicator in Star Trek. The target users are founders, managers, consultants, and field professionals who generate many ideas but lack the time to unlock their phones, switch applications, and type.
The device measures 58 x 58 x 6 mm and weighs 25 g. A 220 mAh battery provides over 10 hours of continuous use and more than two weeks of standby time, recharging in under 1.5 hours via USB-C. It includes 128 MB of onboard storage, a capture range of approximately 60 cm, and supports up to 5 minutes of continuous input per press. A USB-C cable and a magnetic ring for non-MagSafe iPhones are included in the box.

The architectural decision separating this device from a standard app is its dedicated microphone. Audio is captured by the button rather than the iPhone system microphone, leaving the phone mic free so it does not conflict with CarPlay, phone calls, or FaceTime. Consequently, the app never requires continuous background microphone access, and since the button has its own battery and storage, it continues functioning when the phone is locked or offline by buffering on-device and syncing later.
Isolating the microphone from the smartphone's core system represents a clever design approach for AI wearable hardware. It bypasses OS power management and privacy permission bottlenecks that typically hinder seamless daily voice-to-text application workflows.
SpeakON installs as a system-wide iOS keyboard extension, allowing output to appear directly inside Messages, Mail, Slack, Notion, or any field accepting keyboard input without app switching or clipboard round trips. Users simply press and speak for processed text to appear in the active field. The companion app requires iOS 16.0 or above, while magnetic attachment requires iPhone 12 or newer.
The current feature set acts as a text-shaping layer rather than verbatim transcription. Voice data is encrypted, never sold, and not used to train AI models, complying with SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA, and GDPR standards.
The device retails for a one-time price of $129 in the United States, including Pro Lifetime access with no recurring fees. Available colorways include Pearl, Black, Navy Blue, Amber, and Sage. Shipping covers the 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., accompanied by a 30-day return window and a 12-month warranty. Additionally, SpeakON Agent is slated for release in October 2026 to handle reviewable notes, tasks, and actions.
