Artificial intelligence application Muse is experiencing a surge in traction, fueled by Meta's active promotion at its annual developer conference alongside strong early reviews praising its refined design and robust underlying AI model.
At the beginning of the week, Muse had already crossed 2.5 million downloads since its September 8 debut. The app has now accumulated over 3.4 million downloads, based on the latest estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, though these figures are current as of Thursday and do not yet capture the full impact of Meta Connect.

During the event, Meta announced a series of upcoming features for the AI app, including video chat with the Muse avatar, support for computer use on Mac devices, a dedicated email address, expanded partners and connectors, and future integration with smart glasses.
Estimates from other analytics firms vary, with Apptopia putting total downloads at 4.3 million—including 2.6 million on iOS—while Appfigures estimates roughly 2.3 million installs evenly split between iOS and Android. Currently, Muse is available exclusively in the U.S. and Canada.
Meta's cross-platform promotion strategy for Muse mirrors the playbook used to scale Instagram Threads, leveraging its massive existing user base across Facebook and Instagram to bypass traditional user acquisition hurdles in the crowded generative AI market.
Even prior to the conference, Muse achieved significant momentum, hitting 2.8 million downloads in its first two weeks. On September 18, the app climbed to the top of the U.S. App Store, followed by the number one spot on the Google Play Store the next day.
