Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha has not been included in England's matchday squad for Saturday's UEFA Nations League opening fixture against Spain at Wembley Stadium, scheduled for 19:45 BST.
The 18-year-old youngster was named in a full senior squad for the very first time by manager Thomas Tuchel earlier this month. However, he will miss out on the momentous fixture against the reigning world and European champions.
Ngumoha's rapid rise through the ranks began when he became the youngest player in Liverpool's history to start a first-team match as a 16-year-old against Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup during the 2024-25 season. He was also selected as one of five supplementary players to travel with the senior England squad for their pre-World Cup training camp in Florida over the summer.
The inclusion of an 18-year-old talent like Rio Ngumoha in senior international setups highlights a broader strategic shift by England manager Thomas Tuchel to integrate young prospects early.
