On September 26, 2026, Ms. Lalida Periwitwattana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, addressed viral social media reports concerning parking fees charged at the Park & Ride building of Khlong Ban Ma Station amidst flooding conditions.
Investigations revealed that the service charges occurred before the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) announced its free parking policy, which runs from September 26 to October 2, 2026, to assist affected citizens.
Ms. Lalida explained that prior to the announcement, motorists opted for the monthly package rate of 1,000 baht because it offered a cheaper alternative compared to daily parking rates.
Once the MRTA enacted the relief measure for flood victims, officials proactively notified users who had already paid to inform them of the reimbursement process.
