The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced that 28 and 29 September 2026 will be observed as special public holidays, following the Cabinet resolution covering Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Samut Prakan. This measure was introduced in direct response to persistent heavy rainfall and flooding that continue to disrupt travel across these regions.
The implementation of this two-day special holiday arrangement is primarily designed to minimize commuting and safeguard the well-being of TAT personnel who might be impacted by the ongoing severe weather conditions and flooded thoroughfares.
Implementing special public holidays for government and state enterprise sectors during severe weather events is a strategic approach to easing urban congestion and allowing municipal services to focus on flood mitigation. It reflects an increasingly adaptive administrative framework for handling climate-related disruptions in major metropolitan hubs.
Following the special holidays, on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, TAT personnel will transition to the organization's established Work From Anywhere (WFA) framework, ensuring that operations and public services continue remotely without interruption.

Throughout this period, TAT remains fully committed to assisting tourists, tourism industry partners, and stakeholders through its digital communication channels. Staff members remain reachable online, while the TAT Contact Centre 1672 Travel Buddy continues to operate normal daily hours.
For official document submissions, visitors can drop off paperwork with security officers at the visitor registration counter in Thanarat Hall at TAT Headquarters during official business hours, Monday through Friday from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. Alternatively, documents can be submitted electronically via email to center@tat.or.th.
Furthermore, TAT continues to provide regular updates regarding weather and travel conditions in Bangkok and its surrounding areas, which have been issued since 26 September 2026, keeping visitors informed with up-to-date transport data. For ongoing tourism assistance, the TAT Contact Centre 1672 is accessible 24 hours a day.
