The flood situation has escalated significantly, severely impacting local residents, particularly in areas where traditional water transport is unable to reach. On September 28, 2026, at Government House, Prof. Dr. Yossanan Wongswadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), held discussions with King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) and the Defense Industry Association (DIA).
The meeting aimed to integrate unmanned aerial vehicle (drone) technology to manage flood relief operations, specifically focusing on the Rom Klao housing community project in Lat Krabang district, an area with a densely populated community of 170,000 residents facing severe inundation.

The primary obstacle in the Rom Klao community is the inner "yolk" zone, which suffers from deep floodwaters and hazardous obstacles. Rescue operations using boats encountered difficulties due to physical barriers and fences, delaying food and supply deliveries. Consequently, authorities adjusted their strategy by deploying drone rescue volunteers to carry out aerial relief missions.
Later that afternoon at 2:45 PM, Prof. Dr. Yossanan visited the disaster area to monitor the situation firsthand. He was joined by Nikorn Somklang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security (MSDS), Wicharn Meenchainant, Chairman of Rom Klao Rescue Foundation, and ACM Manat Wongwat, former Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force.
The application of drone technology in urban flood disaster response represents a crucial step in overcoming physical constraints in densely built environments. Utilizing drones for transporting urgent supplies and medicine bridges the gap where watercraft fail, demonstrating how scientific innovation can rapidly and effectively address crisis management challenges.
