Warning issued for 5 river basins as dams reach capacity

The water situation in Thailand has raised serious concerns after Decharat Sukumnoed posted a public warning on his Facebook page, urging residents living along five major river basins to heighten their vigilance and closely monitor water conditions over the next three days. Many large dams across the country have reached or exceeded their maximum storage capacity, forcing authorities to gradually increase water release rates to ensure structural safety.

The warning specifically highlights that communities situated downstream and in low-lying riparian areas across several provinces could be impacted by rapidly rising water levels due to the heightened discharge. Residents in these vulnerable zones are advised to prepare by moving belongings to higher ground and staying updated with official announcements.

Meanwhile, water management agencies are closely evaluating incoming rainfall and runoff volumes to optimize discharge rates and minimize community impacts. Coordination with downstream areas is also underway to provide advance warnings.
