The Tourism Authority of Thailand has announced a major achievement as Phuket secured the top ranking in the wellness tourism category following a public vote conducted among Canadian travellers.
The accolade, known as the Travellers’ Top Picks Award for Wellness, is now in its second year and is organised by Air Canada Vacations, inviting consumers across Canada to vote online for their preferred travel destinations across ten distinct categories.
Mrs. Chiravadee Khunsub, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing for Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa, officially accepted the award on September 22, 2026, at the Air Canada Vacations Toronto Product Launch held at Universal Event Space.
"The recognition reflects consumer recognition in Canada of the island’s health and wellness experiences."

This achievement serves as a timely platform for TAT to raise awareness of the country's wellness offerings while advancing the Value-led Tourism direction aimed at delivering higher tourism value.
The recognition from Canadian travellers highlights Thailand's successful transition toward high-value health and wellness tourism, aligning with long-haul consumer trends focused on longevity, preventive care, and holistic wellbeing.
During the event in Toronto, TAT representatives engaged with travel advisors, airlines, and media partners to integrate this recognition with upcoming preparations for the Amazing Thailand Global Health & Wellness Era 2027 initiative.
Canada continues to serve as a vital long-haul market for Thailand. Official figures show that from January 1 to September 21, 2026, Thailand recorded 180,510 visitor arrivals from Canada, representing a 2.35 percent increase compared to the previous year.
