On Wednesday, DoorDash announced the launch of an AI-powered text-to-order agent that enables users to place food orders directly through Apple Messages. The new tool is designed to interpret natural language prompts, such as typing "order my usual," allowing the agent to recognize and process the user's typical Friday night order.
According to DoorDash, customers can also request specific dishes or ask for local restaurant recommendations. The agent will subsequently search nearby dining spots, suggest a curated cart based on the prompt, and even send photographs of the recommended food items via text message to help users make their decisions.

When ordering food for a group of people, DoorDash stated that the AI agent is capable of managing mixed dietary preferences and varying quantities within a single consolidated order, streamlining the process of coordinating meals for multiple individuals.
