- Jaguar Type 01 is the first electric four-door GT on the new JEA platform
- Delivers over 1,000PS of power and a 400-mile EPA driving range
- Supports 350kW fast charging, adding 200 miles in just 13 minutes
- Officially debuted in New York, honoring design lineage from E-type and XJS
Jaguar has officially entered its electric era with the debut of the Jaguar Type 01, an all-electric four-door grand tourer built on the brand's dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). Designed, engineered, and manufactured in the UK, this new model introduces a fresh approach to proportions and occupant experiences for the British marque's upcoming generation of electric vehicles, following the interior preview featuring its signature central spine revealed in August.
The vehicle made its official debut in New York, occupying locations such as Times Square, DUMBO, and the Lower East Side before moving to STORIED in West Chelsea. Visitors there experienced developmental milestones firsthand, including an aluminum interpretation of the initial designer sketch, an engineering feat known as the 'Impossible Panel,' and tire marks sourced from test tracks that highlight hundreds of thousands of kilometers of validation.

Beneath the sculpted bodywork lies an 850-volt electrical architecture that enables the Type 01 to produce more than 1,000PS and achieve an estimated 400-mile EPA range. According to the brand, connecting the vehicle to a 350kW charger allows drivers to replenish 200 miles of range in just 13 minutes, showcasing the high-performance capabilities anchoring Jaguar's mechanical transformation.
"The design began with a single line and a blank sheet of paper, allowing its aerodynamic requirements to shape the clean, elongated surfaces of the car."

The nomenclature of the Type 01 sets the standard for future series: 'Type' pays homage to Jaguar's storied vehicle heritage, '0' signifies zero tailpipe emissions, and '1' marks its position as the inaugural model. Aesthetically, the vehicle channels the visual lineage of iconic predecessors like the E-type and XJS through its long bonnet, low roofline, and stretched silhouette, all while taking advantage of the EV layout to redefine proportions.
The introduction of the Jaguar Type 01 under the direction of Chief Interior Designer Thomas Holden represents a critical milestone in redefining the historic British brand for modern luxury buyers. By utilizing the dedicated JEA platform rather than a modified fossil-fuel chassis, Jaguar's engineering team can optimize cabin space and aerodynamic efficiency, demonstrating how century-old design DNA can successfully transition into ultra-high-performance electric mobility.
