Lifestyle brand BAIT has partnered with G-SHOCK to transform the classic DW5600 model into a perfectly ripe banana, dubbed Yamagata’s Finest. The design takes inspiration from the brief window when a banana reaches its peak ripeness, featuring a bright yellow body scattered with brown freckles.
The concept is embedded directly into the object through a saturated yellow resin case and band dotted with dark flecks at various angles rather than a repeated graphic pattern. From a distance, it appears as a vibrant yellow G-SHOCK, while a pale gray face frames the digital display to complete the look.

The name Yamagata’s Finest serves as a playful tribute to Yamagata Prefecture in Japan, which houses Casio’s Premium Production Line, connecting the fruit theme directly to the birthplace of some of the company’s most precise timepieces.
Collaborations between streetwear labels and durable watchmakers often leverage unconventional concepts to create high-demand collector items. Transforming everyday objects into wearable art showcases how traditional resin cases can be reimagined for modern lifestyle markets.
Furthering the produce theme, BAIT’s cartoon mascot Shawty with Freckles is engraved on the caseback and flashes across the display when the LED backlight is activated. The watch arrives in a custom tin and outer box styled after a fruit shipment, complete with a nutrition-label-style graphic.
Beneath the spotted yellow exterior, Yamagata’s Finest model DW5600BAIT26-9 maintains the signature toughness of the DW5600, offering a shock-resistant structure, 200-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, alarm, and LED backlight.
