To helm this ambitious venture, Xbox has appointed Kayleen Walters as the head of the division. Walters brings a wealth of industry experience, having previously worked at Lucasfilm and most recently serving as the president of Mojang, the studio behind the massive gaming phenomenon Minecraft.
Along with her extensive leadership experience at Mojang, Walters also served as an executive producer on last year's A Minecraft Movie. Her unique blend of expertise in both interactive gaming and cinematic production makes her a strategic fit for leading Xbox's latest multimedia push.
Xbox's creation of the XP division highlights Microsoft's broader strategy to leverage its valuable game intellectual properties across multiple media formats. By appointing a veteran with deep roots in both Lucasfilm and Mojang, Xbox is signaling a serious commitment to producing high-quality Hollywood-style adaptations and transmedia experiences that bridge the gap between video games and cinematic storytelling.
As the XP division gets underway, industry watchers and fans alike will be eager to see which iconic Xbox franchises might be next in line to receive the blockbuster movie or television treatment.
