The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has celebrated a major milestone as Bangkok was crowned the World’s Best City in the Condé Nast Traveller 2026 UK Readers’ Choice Awards. Earning the top spot with an impressive score of 97.68, the Thai capital triumphed based on votes cast by 296,356 readers in the United Kingdom.
Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, emphasized that these accolades highlight the exceptional diversity and quality of Thailand's tourism offerings, ranging from urban culture and gastronomy to world-class wellness retreats and hospitality, aligning with the nation's vision as Asia's premier high-value destination.

Beyond Bangkok's leading victory, Thailand earned recognition across five additional categories covering islands, beaches, food, and wellness:
- Best Countries for Food: Thailand secured 8th place internationally for its vibrant culinary landscape, from street markets to fine dining.
- Best Islands in Asia: Ko Lanta ranked 3rd, followed by Phuket in 4th and Ko Samui in 9th place.
- Best Beaches in Asia: Railay Beach placed 2nd, Ao Nang Beach 10th, Pattaya Beach 16th, and Maya Bay 18th.

In the wellness sector, Thailand dominated the world's best destination spas list with five properties featured. Chiva-Som Hua Hin took first place globally, with Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary at 3rd, RAKxa Integrative Wellness Retreat at 8th, Absolute Sanctuary at 13th, and RXV Wellness Village at 15th. Furthermore, six Bangkok hotels excelled in the Best Hotels in Southeast Asia list, led by the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok at number one.
These consecutive international recognitions underline Thailand's successful shift towards sustainable, high-value tourism. By focusing on quality experiences that directly benefit local communities and the broader economy, the country continues to strengthen its competitive edge in the global travel market.
