- TypeSafe secured $870 million in funding, pushing its valuation to $7.5 billion.
- The AI model Jev launched on September 15 and quickly went viral.
- One-third of Fortune 500 companies are reportedly already using the platform.
- The startup was founded in 2024 by former researchers from OpenAI and Meta.
TypeSafe, the startup behind a newly introduced artificial intelligence model, has successfully closed a massive funding round, securing $870 million and lifting its valuation to $7.5 billion. The investment round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with additional participation from Sequoia and early backer DCVC.
The substantial financial backing comes as little surprise given the instant traction gained by the AI system known as Jev following its September 15 release. The company reports that a remarkable one-third of all Fortune 500 corporations have already integrated the model into their operations, highlighting an unusually rapid enterprise adoption rate.
What sets Jev apart from standard artificial intelligence tools is its underlying infrastructure. Built on a transformer architecture, it functions differently from traditional large language models by avoiding text generation altogether. Instead, the system outputs probabilities, which the developers describe as calibrated decisions.

Corporate enthusiasm stems from TypeSafe's assertion that the model operates significantly faster and consumes far fewer tokens than conventional language models. Consequently, the firm positions its technology specifically for task automation rather than generative writing or software coding.
“We have been super good at human language for four years, but it’s not useful for automation because computers speak a different language,”
Diogo Almeida, TypeSafe co-founder
TypeSafe's pivot toward a non-text AI model highlights a broader industry shift away from generalized conversational interfaces toward specialized automation tools designed for enterprise efficiency. The ability to command a multi-billion dollar valuation within weeks of debut demonstrates strong investor confidence in technologies capable of delivering direct commercial utility.
The company was established in 2024 by a founding team consisting of Diogo Almeida, formerly a researcher at OpenAI, alongside Sasha Sheng, a former research engineer at Meta, and engineer-entrepreneur Erik Gafni.
