Artemis Fowl Animated TV Show Greenlit for Disney

Fantasy book fans are getting another chance to see the criminal mastermind on screen as Artemis Fowl is officially heading to television. The popular book series has been greenlit for an animated adaptation that will be broadcast on Disney Channel and made available to stream on Disney+

This move to animation offers a fresh direction for the property, especially following the previous live-action movie adaptation. An animated format gives creators the creative freedom needed to properly explore the complex magical world and detailed plotlines straight from the original novels without live-action constraints.

Adapting Artemis Fowl into an animated series is a smart reboot strategy for Disney. Animation allows creators to faithfully bring the futuristic tech and hidden underground fairy world to life much closer to the source material, overcoming the adaptation hurdles faced by the 2020 live-action film.

A major highlight of this upcoming series is the involvement of Eoin Colfer himself. The original author will serve as an executive producer on the project, ensuring that the characters, tone, and overall narrative stay true to the books that readers around the world fell in love with.
