- Blueprints AI uses generative AI to produce architectural blueprints in minutes.
- Founded by Al Drams and Coco Cao, incorporated in Santa Monica in 2025.
- Version 2 features multi-discipline design and local building code checks.
- Selected for Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 in San Francisco.
Nearly two decades ago, an architecture student wrote his final thesis on software designed to generate school building plans, but the necessary technology did not exist yet. Everything changed when OpenAI released its generative AI chatbot powered by large language models in November 2022, reviving his long-held vision.
Within six months, Al Drams conceived Blueprints AI, a startup utilizing artificial intelligence to turn 2D sketches or PDF files into code-compliant and permit-ready architectural blueprints within minutes.
"Then ChatGPT came along."
Al Drams
Drams officially incorporated the company in 2025 in Santa Monica with co-founder Coco Cao, a data scientist from Hong Kong who serves as chief commercial officer handling sales and go-to-market strategies. The founders trained their AI models using eight years of approved drawing sets sourced from Drams' active design and construction firm.
Integrating generative AI into architectural drafting streamlines repetitive tasks that consume a significant portion of an architect's day. However, human oversight remains vital as licensed professionals must review and seal documents before submitting them for regulatory approval to ensure safety and code compliance.
The startup's first-generation software ranges from $3,200 to $8,500 per month depending on the tier. Blueprints AI was selected for the 2026 Startup Battlefield 200 cohort and is showcasing its advanced platform at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, running from October 13 to 15 in San Francisco.

The upcoming second-generation software brings a major upgrade, enabling users to generate blueprints for architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and interior design simultaneously from a single project sketch. Any design modification automatically updates the entire project while cross-referencing local building codes.
Blueprints AI targets professional architecture and engineering firms alongside real estate developers and property owners through a subscription model, with potential flat-fee options for single projects. The team is already developing a third version to incorporate structural analysis and electrical panel design.
