Red Bull has secured the long-term future of its Formula 1 leadership by extending team principal Laurent Mekies' contract until the end of 2031. The decision highlights the team's strong confidence in his strategic vision and management following a transitional period.
Mekies took over the leadership role after replacing Christian Horner in the summer of 2025, who had spent 20 years in charge. Following a challenging start to the 2026 campaign, Red Bull successfully upgraded its car performance, allowing Max Verstappen to secure dominant victories at the recent grands prix in Malaysia and Singapore.
In a joint statement, Red Bull's primary shareholders Chalerm Yoovidhya and Mark Mateschitz praised Mekies for successfully navigating the team through crucial changes while preserving the competitive values that define the organization.
