On October 14, 2026, at the Santi Maitri Building of Government House in Bangkok, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul served as the official host for a grand welcome dinner. The event was held in honor of delegates attending the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group (IMF - World Bank Group 2026), alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Ekniti Nitithanprapas and other high- representante of the Thai government welcoming global leaders.
The atmosphere of the evening was warm and inviting, beginning with the Prime Minister greeting distinguished guests at the main hall of the Santi Maitri Building before delivering an opening address in the outer hall. He emphasized Thailand's great honor in hosting the IMF - World Bank meetings once again after a 35-year hiatus, highlighting the critical importance of international cooperation amidst an increasingly interconnected global economy that shapes modern commerce, communication, and daily life.
Thailand hosting the IMF - World Bank meetings after 35 years marks a major milestone in reaffirming the nation's diplomatic and economic standing on the global stage. Originally hosted during a historic period in 1991, this summit serves as an invaluable platform to boost tourism and foster investor confidence through the government's strategic promotion of Thai Soft Power.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister reflected on the auspicious name of the "Santi Maitri" building, which translates to "Peace and Friendship," expressing his sincere hope that the evening would serve as an exceptional networking opportunity. He concluded by wishing all participants a wonderful stay and great success in their ongoing economic discussions throughout the summit

A key highlight of the evening was the immersive showcase of Thai Soft Power across multiple dimensions. The Blue Room featured youth art exhibitions from the FPO Symposium and paintings curated by ThaiBev, while the main hall hosted traditional Hun Lakhon Lek Thai puppet performances and contemporary classical music by the Serng Kraw Symphony Orchestra, alongside live demonstrations of traditional dessert crafting and local handicrafts.
For the dinner menu, the government curated a sophisticated selection that bridges authentic Thai flavors with international appeal. Canapés included mushroom laab in cucumber cups, smoked duck with melon, popcorn-style crispy chicken, and shrimp cakes with plum sauce. The four-course main menu, themed "Thai Joint Venture," offered choices of slow-braised Australian beef cheek massaman, baked salmon with Thai holy basil chili sauce, or plant-based meat with saffron basmati rice, followed by traditional tub tim krob in fragrant coconut milk.
"Santi Maitri translates to peace and friendship, and we hope tonight offers a wonderful opportunity to connect and build networks."
