Analogue is breathing new life into its popular retro gaming hardware by revealing redesigned iterations of its Super Nt and Mega Sg consoles. Dubbed the Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus, these refreshed systems feature a reworked industrial design alongside modern creature comforts while preserving the authentic cartridge-based gaming experience that fans expect.
At the core of both machines is an FPGA processor that meticulously mirrors the circuitry of classic 16-bit consoles from Nintendo and Sega without relying on software emulation. While the systems output at 1080p rather than scaling titles up to 4K like the Analogue 3D does for Nintendo 64 software, this new hardware revision focuses heavily on resolving the everyday annoyances associated with legacy retro setups.

The most notable hardware adjustments include swapping legacy power connections for a modern USB-C port, allowing users to power the consoles using the exact same cables they use for everyday mobile devices and smartphones. An additional USB-A port has also been integrated to accommodate various peripherals, alongside built-in Bluetooth and low-latency 2.4GHz wireless connections that completely eliminate the need for separate controller dongles.
Traditional wired gamepads remain fully supported for purists, and both upgraded consoles can now be powered on remotely using whatever gamepad is currently designated as the primary controller. Furthermore, Analogue confirmed that game cartridges can now be hot-swapped without requiring a complete power cycle of the system after exiting a title through the on-screen menu.

Revitalizing these 16-bit hardware platforms with modern convenience features demonstrates Analogue's understanding of contemporary living room setups. By incorporating USB-C power delivery and native wireless support, the company bridges the gap between classic physical cartridges and modern clutter-free entertainment centers without compromising hardware accuracy.
Both the Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus will officially open for pre-orders starting on October 19 at 9:00 AM PT / 11:00 AM ET. Each console will retail for $219.99, with the manufacturer expecting to commence initial product shipments later this year in December.
