The Israeli military has launched a sweeping crackdown in the occupied West Bank, carrying out widespread demolitions of homes and businesses in the city of Hebron, which has left numerous Palestinian families displaced amid escalating regional tensions.
Online footage revealed extensive destruction caused by military bulldozers, with at least one entire street appearing completely flattened. The armed forces have also cordoned off the city, heavily restricting the movement of its 200,000 residents.
The military operation followed an announcement by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, initiated in response to an attack at a checkpoint where two Palestinian gunmen killed two Israeli soldiers and injured three others before being killed at the scene.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that approximately 2,000 residents were displaced by the operation centered around the Ein Deir Baha and Farsh al-Hawa neighborhoods, targeting residential homes, commercial businesses, and industrial sites. Dozens of families were reportedly forced to spend the night outdoors without their vehicles, while marked properties awaited demolition.
"We will evacuate the residents, go house to house, remove the weapons we find there, and deal with and destroy all terrorist infrastructure."
Benjamin Netanyahu
The demolition of Palestinian homes in the West Bank is a frequent tactic employed by Israeli forces, a practice that human rights organizations have criticized as a form of collective punishment. This latest escalation in Hebron also highlights domestic political pressures in Israel, where far-right factions continue to demand aggressive security measures in the disputed territories.
In response, the Palestinian Authority (PA) issued a statement calling for urgent international intervention beyond mere condemnation to halt further forced displacements. Meanwhile, local officials in Hebron contend that the operation is closely tied to political motives ahead of upcoming elections.
