Following an incident in May 2026 where the owner of a well-known grilled pork restaurant in tambon Lat Ya, Mueang Kanchanaburi district, released CCTV footage exposing a police sub-lieutenant serving as a deputy traffic inspector at Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station committing misconduct against a 20-year-old part-time student waitress before filing formal charges.
Later, Pol. Maj. Gen. Phasavee Ruangphu, Commander of Kanchanaburi Provincial Police, ordered local units to investigate the factual allegations, which were found to have substance, prompting the establishment of a formal disciplinary investigation committee.

Recently, at 11:00 AM on August 1, 2026, at Dan Makham Tia Police Station in Kanchanaburi province, Pol. Lt. Col. Suphap Sinak, Deputy Superintendent of Dan Makham Tia Police Station and chairman of the severe disciplinary committee, summoned the victim, the restaurant manager, and the owner to provide testimony as the aggrieved party and prosecution witnesses.
All three individuals arrived accompanied by Mr. Phumpong Jongsakul, an advisor to Mr. Akkranant Kannakitinan, Deputy Minister of Education and Kanchanaburi Constituency 1 Member of Parliament, alongside Ministry of Education rights protection coordinators and legal advisor Mr. Sirisak Kanakupt.
The intervention of high-ranking political figures and state rights protection agencies in cases involving allegations against state authorities or police officers highlights efforts to ensure transparency and prevent cases from being stalled. Because local power dynamics can intimidate vulnerable victims, providing independent legal representation and monitoring mechanisms is vital for safeguarding witnesses and restoring public trust in the justice system.
Mr. Akkranant and Mr. Phongpat Phothongkam, Director of the Legal Aid Center of the Lawyers Council of Thailand, Kanchanaburi Chapter, also traveled to the location to provide legal guidance and observe proceedings to guarantee fairness for all involved parties.
The investigative committee spent over an hour questioning the three witnesses. The victim presented printed CCTV image evidence documenting the incident to the committee as physical material to support her testimony.
Following the session, Pol. Lt. Col. Suphap disclosed that per the provincial police commander's order, three witnesses—the victim, owner, and manager—were interviewed, yielding information consistent with media reports. The committee will compile these findings to proceed according to official regulations.
Mr. Phumpong stated that he acted under direct orders from Deputy Minister Akkranant, given that the incident occurred within his constituency, to monitor proceedings and ensure absolute fairness. He emphasized that the inquiry followed official administrative procedures and confirmed that his team will persistently follow the case until a just resolution is achieved for society.
Regarding the criminal proceedings, reports indicated that investigators at Lat Ya Police Station are currently gathering evidence to finalize the case file before submitting it to the Lat Ya Police Superintendent to forward for public prosecution.
