Airbnb has announced its timeline for releasing a consumer-facing AI travel agent, committing to roll out the new technology to users in the first half of 2027. This move follows previous indications that the feature would debut within the next year.
During an earnings call with analysts, Brian Chesky reiterated his belief that people will not rely on a single AI agent for everything. In its shareholder letter, the company highlighted that its nearly two decades of experience connecting hosts and guests serves as the foundation for building the agent, incorporating insights on how people book and host on the platform.

Beyond standard reservations, the upcoming AI tool is designed to assist travelers across various phases of their journey, handling multiple operational tasks seamlessly.
Developing an in-house AI travel agent allows Airbnb to leverage its proprietary transaction data and host-guest interaction history, creating proprietary utility that third-party AI assistants cannot easily replicate, especially regarding direct booking modifications and on-the-ground support.
“Our agent will be able to help guests throughout their trip — from changing a reservation or resolving a payment issue to getting help with refunds, rebooking, or 24-hour safety support. These are things an outside agent can’t easily do on its own,”

Over time, Airbnb anticipates expanding the AI agent's capabilities to cover other segments of travel, including services and experiences, which have become a major focus following the company's platform redesign last year.
The news accompanied the release of strong third-quarter financial results. Airbnb reported revenue growing 19% year-over-year to $4.87 billion, topping Wall Street expectations. Consequently, the company raised its 2026 revenue growth forecast, predicting growth in the high teens instead of the previous mid-teens projection.
