- The Democrat Party responds to Bhumjaithai regarding the 30-31 southern MP seats.
- Emphasizes that election victory does not grant a blank check to avoid scrutiny.
- Demands that southern government MPs deliver concrete results for citizens.
On November 7, 2026, Ms. Duangruethai Buakaew, Deputy Spokesperson for the Democrat Party, voiced her stance against Mr. Sastra Sripan, a former MP from the Bhumjaithai Party, who previously responded to Mr. Chaichana Dechdecho, Democrat Party-list MP and Deputy Leader overseeing the southern region. She stated that such political responses lack constructive value and warned against using MP headcounts to silence political oversight.
Ms. Duangruethai further clarified that even though the Bhumjaithai Party secured 30 to 31 seats in the southern region, it does not mean the government receives a special permit to operate without checks and balances. Furthermore, the number of seats held by the Democrat Party in parliament does not diminish the value of the voters who elected them to represent their voices.
"I am not denying the election results. The fact that the Bhumjaithai Party swept over 30 southern MP seats prompts the question of whether southern citizens should see those elected representatives deliver tangible results to improve their livelihood, especially since they are now government MPs," Ms. Duangruethai stated.

This political friction between the Democrat Party and the Bhumjaithai Party highlights the intense competition in Thailand's southern region, a traditional stronghold long dominated by the Democrats before Bhumjaithai made significant gains in recent elections. Demanding accountability and tangible performance serves as a key strategy for the Democrats to maintain their political relevance and voice regional concerns.
