- Chaichana Dechdecho reports to Thung Yai Police Station to face assault allegations.
- He denies slapping or punching, explaining it was a friendly ear-pinch and embrace.
- He questions why the complaint was filed four days after the alleged August 8 incident.
Following a high-profile political controversy, Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Khajornklin, Deputy Commissioner of Region 8 Police and acting Commander of Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police, ordered Pol. Col. Thirawut Thepleuan, Superintendent of Nakhon Si Thammarat Investigation Division, alongside Pol. Col. Phongpichan Chayanontpiriya, Superintendent of Thung Yai Police Station, to gather evidence, review CCTV footage, and interview witnesses to uncover the truth behind the allegations against a prominent MP.
Pol. Col. Phongpichan, Superintendent of Thung Yai Police Station, stated that the case commenced when a complaint was registered at 6:00 PM to take legal action against the politician. Authorities have already interviewed three eyewitnesses and are currently collecting additional evidence. Police have also urged anyone present at the scene who captured still photos or video footage to submit them to assist the investigation.

Subsequently, Chaichana Dechdecho, a party-list MP for the Democrat Party, arrived at Thung Yai Police Station to acknowledge the assault charges. Dozens of local residents gathered outside the station to present him with red roses in a show of support before he proceeded to the meeting room and formally entered a plea of not guilty.
“On the night of the incident, I put my arm around his neck and he did the same, but my hand accidentally touched his face. Does that legally constitute an offense? I just saw him earlier today. The incident happened on August 8. If he really had a problem with it, he should have filed a complaint that very day. Four days have passed, and even at a funeral we still took photos together, walked, talked, and smoked together. Why file a complaint just yesterday?”
Chaichana Dechdecho
Chaichana explained to reporters that reports claiming he slapped the officer's ear were entirely false, emphasizing that physical assault involves actual fighting, which never took place. He stated that upon encountering the deputy superintendent, whom he has known for a long time, he playfully pinched his ear out of affection. He cautioned against attempts to create a rift between relatives and associates, suggesting the rumors were fabricated to damage his political image.
High-profile disputes involving politicians and law enforcement officers frequently attract intense public scrutiny due to the intersection of political influence and state authority. Discrepancies in the timeline of reporting and post-incident interactions often become crucial defense arguments during police inquiries, making objective evidence such as CCTV footage essential for ensuring a fair judicial process.
