- Calls on the Interior Ministry to pursue masterminds rather than low-level actors

On August 15, 2026, former Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit addressed the ongoing investigation into irregularities in the competitive examinations for local government personnel recruitment, noting that 5,925 candidates were found to have abnormal scores.
Prompong expressed support for the Ministry of Interior and the Department of Local Administration in pursuing a serious investigation, stating that this issue goes beyond mere score errors and touches upon public trust in the Thai civil service. He stressed that the 5,925 cases must not be used merely to close the book, urging authorities to follow the evidence all the way to any masterminds or beneficiaries behind the scenes.

Managing the problematic list is only half the battle, while the public is still waiting to find out who was responsible, where the system failed, whether corruption was involved, and when honest test-takers will receive justice. The government and the Ministry of Interior must urgently tackle two matters simultaneously:
- Restore opportunities for honest candidates: Quickly process new rankings and appoint qualified applicants based on actual scores and merit without letting good people suffer for faults they did not commit.
- Investigate three dimensions—system, money, and people: Inspect system vulnerabilities, trace financial trails for hidden benefits, and investigate all individuals involved from officials to brokers.
Civil service exam corruption has long undermined the efficiency of Thailand's public sector. Demanding strict scrutiny into financial trails and procedural loopholes marks a crucial step toward transparency. If the government handles this firmly, it will significantly elevate public recruitment standards and restore public confidence.
Prompong further emphasized that Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul must prove that hard work and genuine capability outweigh financial power or personal connections. If handled thoroughly, this effort will not only root out local exam corruption but also restore justice and faith in Thailand's bureaucratic system.
