England pace bowler Brydon Carse has been dropped from the national squad for the upcoming second Test against Pakistan amid an ongoing investigation into an incident that resulted in his brief detention over the weekend.
Footage circulated on social media on Sunday, August 23, 2026, showed the 31-year-old athlete in handcuffs outside a drinking establishment in Derby on Saturday night, August 22. Derbyshire Police subsequently confirmed that an individual was taken into custody before being released shortly afterwards.
According to a police statement, a man in his thirties was detained on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in central Derby on Saturday evening. The individual was freed from handcuffs moments later after agreeing to depart the location immediately.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) referred the matter to the Cricket Regulator for formal review. Consequently, Carse was omitted from the squad and will be substituted by 23-year-old Sonny Baker for the fixture at Lord's.
