England crush Sri Lanka to top T20 world rankings

England delivered a dominant performance against Sri Lanka in the third T20 international at Emirates Old Trafford on 19 September 2026, securing an 8-wicket victory to complete a clean sweep of the series and reclaim the number one position in the world rankings from India.

The hosts' pace attack proved too strong for the tourists, restricting Sri Lanka to a modest total of 124 all out in 18.5 overs. England then chased down the 126-run target in just 9.4 overs, setting a national record for the most balls to spare in a home T20 international.
