The Moscow region faced one of its largest aerial assaults as Ukraine launched a massive wave of overnight drone attacks, resulting in at least two deaths and six injuries, according to regional Governor Andrei Vorobyev.
Governor Vorobyev reported via Telegram that air defenses intercepted 249 drones, but falling debris and impacts caused fires in several residential buildings and a local warehouse. In the capital, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed that a facility at an oil refinery was damaged and flight restrictions were implemented at two local airports.

Detailing the casualties, Vorobyev stated that a 44-year-old woman was killed in Sofyino after a drone struck a three-storey residential building, injuring five others including two children. In the Orekhovo-Zuevo district, an elderly man died after a private home was hit by the strikes.
Both Russia and Ukraine have recently intensified reciprocal strikes targeting critical infrastructure, including energy-generating plants, transport networks, and major logistics hubs. This escalation follows earlier deadly strikes by Russia in Ukraine's Kyiv and Sumy regions.
