- Retroactively applies to previously completed games including Xbox 360 titles
Microsoft has officially unveiled its brand-new Xbox Mythic Achievements system, which is already rolling out for Xbox Insiders to test. The fresh feature functions similarly to Sony's PlayStation Platinum trophies, being unlocked only after a player has earned every single original achievement available for a specific game.
According to the Xbox team, Mythic Achievements have already been integrated into eligible titles completed in the past, including classic games from the Xbox 360 era. Players visiting their profiles may soon find that some of their favorite titles have automatically attained Mythic status based on their historical progress.

Alongside the new tier, user profiles will soon feature a dedicated gaming tab designed to track Gamerscore milestones and Mythic Achievements effortlessly. The main achievement interface is also receiving upgrades to streamline how players monitor their overall completion status.
The introduction of Mythic Achievements marks a strategic move by Microsoft to align its ecosystem with the achievement-hunting expectations set by PlayStation. By acknowledging completionist milestones and applying them retroactively, Microsoft not only enhances player engagement across legacy catalogs like the Xbox 360 library but also satisfies a long-standing community demand for a top-tier accomplishment badge.
To assist completionists further, a brand-new progress bar has been placed at the top of each game's achievement list. This visual indicator displays how close a user is to reaching Mythic status, complete with an option to filter and focus on the specific original achievements still missing.
These achievements initially leaked via an Xbox PC app update last week, featuring a distinct unlock sound effect. The current testing phase arrives just weeks after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma hinted that the platform would introduce a platinum trophy equivalent later this year.
