On August 17, 2026, Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list Member of Parliament and spokesperson for the People's Party, posted a public statement directing specific inquiries to the Election Commission and the Department of Special Investigation. This follows recent public remarks made by local administration leader Witthaya Khamphuang regarding evidence presented concerning a Senate election rigging scheme.
The controversy unfolded after Witthaya appeared on multiple media programs to address video evidence previously revealed by the People's Party. While Parit stated that the public should judge the credibility of those explanations, he emphasized that two major factual discrepancies remain unresolved despite denials from the local leader.
Financial transaction tracking and digital footprint analysis in high-profile political investigations typically rely on bank records and accommodation logs. Oversight bodies possess statutory authority to examine these records to ensure public accountability and transparency.
Regarding political affiliations, Witthaya previously asserted he had no special ties to the Bhumjaithai Party beyond supporting certain policies and performing official local duties alongside party ministers. However, Parit discovered photographic evidence showing Witthaya wearing a Bhumjaithai Party shirt while joining party executives to announce MP candidates for Nong Khai, Chaiyaphum, and Sakon Nakhon on November 11, 2025, at the party headquarters.
On the second issue concerning accommodation expenses, Witthaya maintained that he neither booked nor paid for the B2 Hotel in Rangsit as accused. Conversely, investigators pointed out that the central issue is not who made the reservation, but rather that funds were transferred from a bank account bearing the name Witthaya Khamphuang to settle hotel fees totaling 7,520 baht across two booking numbers during June 25 to 26, 2024.

In light of these lingering questions, Parit formally requested transparency from the relevant state authorities. He asked the DSI to clarify whether investigators ever checked with the B2 Hotel in Rangsit regarding reservations, check-ins, or payments during that timeframe, and whether records confirm money transfers from the specified account name.
Furthermore, addressing the Election Commission as the primary authority, the People's Party pressed for clear answers on whether the June 25, 2024 incident at the B2 Hotel forms part of the EC's inquiry records or witness testimonies under the 26th investigation committee, and why no interrogation took place if such steps were omitted.
